Difluorocyclopropane‐containing building blocks for drug discovery were synthesized from the functionalized alkenes and TMSCF3/NaI. Novel fluorinated acids, amines, amino acids, alcohols, ketones and sulfonyl chlorides were obtained.

Diels-Alder furan additions are less sensitive to pressure in aqueous solution than in organic solvents. In some cases, water affects chemo- and stereoselectivity. The interpretation takes into account hydrophobic as well as polar effects induced by water.

Reactions of 5-cyano- and 5-methoxycarbonyl-7-oxabicyclo[2.2.1]hept-2-enes with a chlorotrimethylsilane/sodiumiodide reagent in acetonitrile gave 2-furanpropanenitrile and 5-methoxycarbonyl-1,3-cyclohexadiene in good yields, respectively.
