Heterocyclic modulators of lipid synthesis are provided as well as pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof; pharmaceutical compositions comprising such compounds; and methods of treating conditions characterized by disregulation of a fatty acid synthase pathway by the administration of such compounds and combinations of such compounds and other therapeutic agents.
The present invention provides compounds of Formula I and Formula II: or pharmaceutically acceptable salts or solvates thereof, as modulators of liver X receptors (LXRs), and compositions comprising any of such novel compounds and methods of use thereof. These compounds are useful as medicaments for treatment and/or prophylaxis for diseases or conditions related to activity of LXRs.

Oxygen and Base-Free Oxidative Heck Reactions of Arylboronic Acids with Olefins
protocol for palladium-catalyzedoxidative Heck reactions of arylboronicacids with both electron-rich and -deficient olefins is described. In contrast to the normal oxidative Heck coupling, this new method works in the absence of a base, oxygen, or other external oxidants. With a wide variety of substrates tolerated, the method broadens the scope of palladium-catalyzed coupling reactions.

The condensation of anilines and alkenyl ethers has been demonstrated by employing visible-lightphotoredoxcatalysis. The resulting method enables the synthesis of substituted 2-alkylquinolines under mild and simple conditions with good substrate scope and high yields.
