selectively to methyl neryl ether, geranylmethylether, and allyl neryl ether. For all the substrates the main product (up to 50%) is the aziridine deriving from addition to the double bond remote from the oxygen atom. Competition experiments point to a different reactivity of the two kind of double bonds and these results are compared with those reported for similar substrates in other addition reactions
[reaction: see text]. SmI2/H2O/amine provides selective cleavage of unsubstituted allylethers in good to excellent yields. This method is therefore useful in deprotection of alcohols and carbohydrates.

benzylidene catalyzed olefincross-metathesis with homoprenyl benzenes. Successful implementation of this approach provided several epoxypolyenes as expected (E/Z, ca. 2-3:1). The method is further generalized for the cross-metathesis of pre-existing trisubstituted olefins in other relay-actuated Δ6,7-functionalized monoterpenoid alcohols with various other trisubstituted alkenes to form new trisubstituted
