  Upon treatment with boron trifluoride etherate at room temperature, dl-linaloyl neryl, dl-geranyl linaloyl, dl-neryl α-terpenyl, and dineryl ethers were obtained from nerol and linaloyl neryl, l-geranyl linaloyl, dl-neryl α-terpenyl, and l-linaloyl piperityl ethers, from l-linalool. Of these ethers, linaloyl piperityl ether was thought to be formed by the cyclization of linaloyl neryl and geranyl linaloyl
