Both enantiomers of 2-(dimethylamino)-1-[3-methoxy-2-(1- methylethoxy)phenyl]ethanol were synthetized by a stereoselective route and evaluated in vitro for their uroselectivity in Comparison with other alpha-adrenoceptor agonists. The most potent enantiomer was structurally characterized by X-ray crystallographic analysis.
