    In a low pressure process for the production of crystalline propene-ethene-butene-1 terpolymers with 0.2 to 10% by weight of ethene and 0.2 to 5% by weight of butene-1 with the aid of mixed catalysts of TiCl.sub.3 or TiCl.sub.3 .sup.. n AlCl.sub.3 (n = 0.2 to 0.6), and chlorine-containing organoaluminum compounds, the improvement comprising conducting the polymerization in butene-2 or in a C.sub.4 -cut containing 20-99% butene-2, containing 0.1 - 2.5% of butene-1, with the addition of 0.2 to 10% of ethene, based on the amount of propene employed.

    In a low pressure process for polymerizing ethene using a Ziegler mixed catalyst comprising (a) a titanium compound, a vanadium compound or a mixture thereof and (b) an aluminum-organic compound or a mixture thereof, an improvement is provided wherein the process is carried out in multi-stages comprising: polymerizing, in a first polymerization stage, in the liquid phase in a dispersion medium of a C.sub.3 - to C.sub.6 -hydrocarbon, and polymerizing, in a last polymerization stage, in the gas phase.

    Propene terpolymers consist of from 80 to 99.5 mol % of structural units derived from propene, from 0.1 to 15 mol % of structural units derived from ethene or a C4-C6-1-olefin (I) and from 0.1 to 15 mol % of structural units derived from a further C4-C12-1-olefin (II) which is different from the C4-C6-1-olefin (I), which propene terpolymers have a proportion of regioregular ′1-2′-inserted propene units corresponding to the formula (1) [ ′ ⁢ 1 - 2 ′ ] [ ′ ⁢ 1 - 2 ′ ] + [ ′ ⁢ 2 - 1 ′ ] + [ ′ ⁢ 1 - 3 ′ ] ( 1 ) of more than 0.99, have a melting point (TM), determined from the DSC peak maximum, of less than 135° C. and a weight average molecular weight (MW) of more than 80,000 g/mol and have a xylene-soluble proportion (XS) in % by weight of the propene terpolymer which obeys the following inequality (2) XS≦1411.21 exp(−0.0591 TM[° C.])−0.05  (2).

    A novel series of copolymers and terpolymers, useful as base oils for synthetic lubricants, are produced by polymerization of ethylene, an alpha-olefin, and optionally a third monomer comprising an alpha-olefin of 3 to 20 carbon atoms, in the presence of a combination catalyst comprising a compound of a transition metal of Group IVb of the Periodic Table and an aluminoxane. The copolymer or terpolymer may be further processed by thermal cracking to yield novel cracked polymers, and the cracked polymers may be hydrogenated. The copolymers or terpolymers may also be hydroisomerized. All the polymers are useful as base oils for lubricating oils and consumer products.

    An object of the present invention is to provide a material used for producing a sheet for sealing a solar cell which is excellent in mechanical strength, solar cell sealing property and transparency if the material is not cross-linked. The thermoplastic resin composition of the present invention for sealing a solar cell is characterized by comprising: (A) 0 to 70 parts by weight of a propylene-based polymer having a melting point of 100° C. or higher and (B) 30 to 100 parts by weight of a propylene-based copolymer satisfying the following requisite (b); (b): MFR (230° C., load: 2.16 kg) falls in a range of 0.01 to 100 g/10 minutes, and at least one of the following requisites (b-1) and (b-2) is satisfied; (b-1): an rr fraction is 60% or more and (b-2): a structural unit derived from propylene is contained in an amount of 55 to 90 mole %, and a structural unit derived from α-olefin having 2 to 20 carbon atoms (excluding propylene) is contained in an amount of 10 to 45 mole %; and an intrinsic viscosity [η] (dL/g) measured in decalin at 135° C. and MFR described above satisfy a specific relational equation.
