The invention provides lipid A mimics in which one or both of the sugar residues of a natural lipid A disaccharide backbone has been replaced with an aromatic group. These lipid A mimics may further differ from a natural lipid A molecule with respect to other structural characteristics, such as, a different number of phosphate groups present, changes in the number, structure and location of lipid chains and/or changes in the spacing and linkage of the sugar residues (or their aromatic replacements). The lipid A mimics may be lipid A agonists and as such may be useful as immunostimulatory agents in inducing or patenting an antibody and/or cell-mediated immune response, or may be lipid A antagonists and as such may be useful in treating or preventing a lipopolysaccharide (LPS)/lipid A-mediated disease or disorder. Also provided are methods for preparing the lipid A mimics.

An object of the present invention is to provide a cationic electrodeposition coating composition which does not contain organic tin compound, and can sustain a superior coating curability under currently used baking conditions. Bubbling as well as discoloration can be prevented in a molded article prepared from the polyvinyl chloride resin composition. Magnesium oxide having a specific surface area of at least 50 m²/g and an average secondary particle size smaller than 5 µm is preferably used.

Motor vehicle components are provided having an improved stability at moderate temperatures and shaped from polyvinyl chloride resin compositions, comprising a polyvinyl chloride resin, at least one heat stabilizer in a sufficient amount to impart heat processing stability, and a S-diketone in a sufficient amount to provide, after forming, stability at moderate temperatures not provided by any residual heat stabilizer, as well as polyvinyl chloride resin stabilizer compositions and polyvinyl chloride resin compositions containing such heat stabilizer compositions suitable for use in forming motor vehicle components, comprising at least one heat stabilizer and a β-diketone.
A stabilized halogen-containing resin composition wherein
(a) 0.01 to 10 weight parts of a hydrotalcite,
(b) 0.01 to 5 weight parts of a zinc compound,
(c) 0.01 to 5 weight parts of magnesium hydroxide, and
(d) 0.01 to 5 weight parts of a β-diketone compound and/or a phosphite compound are compounded into a halogen-containing resin per 100 weight parts thereof and a molding article therefrom.
