    通过两种合成方法制备了两种具有不同单体序列的新型聚酰胺酰亚胺(PAI)系列。由二酰亚胺-二酸1a-1c单体与各种芳族二胺的缩聚反应合成了第一组交替的聚酰胺-酰亚胺PAIs-2(ae)。使用偏苯三甲酰氯(TMAC)与芳族二胺直接缩聚反应,制备了第二系列聚酰胺酰亚胺PAIs-3(ac)。研究了单体序列对聚合物透明性和热性能的影响。550 nm处的透射率(T 550)从PAI的紫外-可见(UV-vis)光谱中发现,其范围为74-87%,这在很大程度上受到聚合物重复单元中单体序列的影响。来自TMAC的PAI-3a表现出87%的高透明度和25 ppm /°C的低热膨胀系数(CTE)。所有共聚物均表现出良好的有机溶解性和机械性能,初始模量为3.4-4.9 GPa,抗张强度为96-129 MPa,断裂伸长率为3.0-5.2%。氮气中PAI的玻璃化转变温度(T g)和10%失重温度(T 10%)分别在29

    An optical waveguide which has properties including low optical losses, facile fabrication, controllrable core - cladding refractive index ratio, and high heat resistance is provided. The optical waveguide for light transmission therethrough has a core (2) made of a polyimide obtained from at least one tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride and at least one diamine. The polyimide is (a) a polyimide homopolymer derived from a diamine represented by formula [I] as follows: (b) a polyimide copolymer derived from at least one diamine including the diamine represented by the formula [I]; or (c) a mixture of the polyimide homopolymers.

    A polyimide optical waveguide comprising a core (2) made of polyimide whose refractive index is controlled to a predetermined value by electron beam irradiation, and a cladding (1, 3) set in contact with the core and having a refractive index lower than that of the core. A polyamic acid solution is spin-coated on a substrate such as of silicon, and is thermally cured to form a polyimide layer. An electron beam is irradiated on the entire surface of the polyimide layer to change the refractive index to a predetermined value. An electron beam-absorbed dose of the polyimide layer depends on the composition of the polyimide, an energy of the electron beam, and the applied amount of the electron beam irradiation. The refractive index changes in accordance therewith approximately. This polyimide layer irradiated with the electron beam is used as a core layer. Next, the same polyamic acid solution is spin-coated on the core layer, and is thermally cured. The material is separated from the substrate to obtain a polyimide film of a two-layer structure. Then, the polyimide film of a two-layer structure is made to reverse and the irradiated polyimide layer is made to the upper surface. The lower surface of the reversed film is adhered by a method such as a thermo-compression bonding on the other silicon substrate. Next, the core layer is patterned into a desired shape, for example, a rectangular shape, by RIE (reactive ion etching) method. Finally, the same polyamic acid solution is spin-coated over the patterned core layer, as an upper cladding lacer, and is thermally cured, thereby preparing an embedded channel waveguide.

    Disclosed is a solution which comprises (a) a substantially fully imidized polyimidesiloxane; and (b) a solvent which comprises at least 50 wt% of a substituted pyrrolidone having the general formula where R is aliphatic or cycloaliphatic from C3 to C10. Also disclosed is a method of forming a coating on a substrate by applying the solution to the substrate and evaporating the solvent. Coatings formed from this solution are not subject to whitening as are coatings formed from the same polymers in other solvents.

    Polyimides satisfying the requirements (a), (b) and (c) among the requirements described below, polyimides satisfying the requirements (b), (c) and (d), and polyimides satisfying the requirements (a), (b), (c) and (d) are excellent in transparency, isotropy and resistance to cracking (no crack is formed in the formation of a multilayer film, so that the multilayer formation is easy, namely, the polyimides are good in processability) and can give optical parts excellent in optical characteristics: (a) the difference between the refractive index in TE mode and that in TM mode is 0.02 or less, (b) the glass transition temperature (Tg) is 250°C or higher, (c) the optical transmission loss at a wavelength of 0.7 to 1.6 µm is 1 dB/cm or less, and (d) the fluorine content is 22.6% by weight or less.
