Disclosed herein are cationic hair conditioning compositions comprising an amine oxide; and, water and sufficient acid to provide a pH for said composition of about or below the isoelectric pH of hair protein and an amine oxide concentration from about 0.1% about 10% based on the total weight of said hair conditioning composition. Also disclosed are neutralizer conditioning compositions comprising in addition to the components of the cationic hair conditioning compositions, an oxidizing agent.
The present invention relates to a cationic hair conditioning composition comprising:
(a) An amine oxide of the formula:
wherein R1 and R2 are the same or different moieties and are selected from fewer (C1-C4) alkyl, alkoxy and hydroxy alkyl groups, and R3 is an alkyl group containing 8 to 22 carbon atoms; and
(b) water sufficient acid to provide pH for said composition of from about 4.5 to about 2.4 or less and an amine oxide concentration from about 0.5% to about 10% based on the total weight of said hair conditioning composition.
