Catalyzed by Ru(bpy)3(BF4)2, the photoredox coupling of tertiary amines with acrylate derivatives including Baylis–Hillman adducts under visible light irradiation was successfully established. The scope of the substrates was broad, and thus an array of γ-aminobutyric ester derivatives was obtained in moderate to good yields.

The present invention relates to novel compounds of general formula A: Particularly, the present invention relates to compounds which are useful as antifeedant against the major agricultural pest Spodoptera litura and thus useful as potential insect antifeedants. Further, the present invention relates to a process for the preparation of novel compounds of general formula A having insect antifeedant activity.
The preparation of N-containing α,β-unsaturated carboxylate derivatives from α-silylamine and Baylis-Hillmanadducts under visible light irradiation was reported. The formation of α-aminoalkyl radical is regioselective compared with the previous reports. The reaction was successfully performed without additional additives under mild conditions.
TMSOTf-catalyzed isomerization of acetates of the Baylis - Hillman adducts, i.e. methyl 3-acetoxy-3-aryl-2-methylenepropanoates and 3-acetoxy-3-aryl-2-methylenepropanenitriles providing methyl (2E)-2-(acetoxymethyl)-3-arylprop-2-enoates and (2E)-2-(acetoxymethyl)-3-arylprop-2-enenitriles, respectively, is described.

A tetrabutylammonium iodide catalyzed method for the synthesis of allyl aryl sulfone derivatives with BaylisâHillman acetates and sulfonylhydrazides using tert-butyl hydroperoxide as an oxidation agent in water has been developed. In this process, the group eliminated from the sulfonyl precursor is molecular nitrogen.
