ABSTRACT An efficient and green protocol for the synthesis of isoaurones by condensation of benzofuranone with benzaldehydes using polyethylene glycol (PEG) is demonstrated. Excellent yields, no reagents/additional catalysts, E-selectivity, short reaction times, and no work-up/extraction makes an attractive benign procedure.
