vasorelaxant alkaloids of 1,4-diarylbutanoidphenethylamines were synthesized successfully. Synthesis started from commercially available veratraldehyde, vanillin and piperonal. The important reactions involved in this synthesis are Corey-Fuchs, Eschweiler-Clarke, Henry reaction and lithium mediated carbon-carbon bond formation.
