    Provided is a resin acid ester-based tackifier having a good compatibility with a synthetic rubber elastomer, being capable of reducing the melt viscosity of the elastomer, and being capable of imparting excellent adhesive properties and/or pressure-sensitive adhesive properties to the elastomer. The tackifier is composed of an ester composition characterized by (i) the ester composition comprising 70% by weight or more of a resin acid ester represented by the general formula (1): and (ii) the S′ NMR /S NMR ratio of the ester composition being at least 6% in the 1 H-NMR spectrum of the ester composition, wherein S′ NMR is the total integral value of the proton signal(s) appearing in the region of 6 to 8 ppm and S NMR is the total integral value of all the proton signals appearing over the entire range of the 1 H-NMR spectrum.

    The present invention provides a pigment dispersion and a method of producing the pigment dispersion. The pigment dispersion includes: water; a pigment; a pigment dispersing polymer; and a rosin acid that includes at least one selected from the group consisting of abietic acid, salts of abietic acid, dihydroabietic acid and salts of dihydroabietic acid, and a total content of abietic acid, salts of abietic acid, dihydroabietic acid and salts of dihydroabietic acid is 50% by mass or higher with respect to a total mass of the rosin acid contained in the pigment dispersion. The pigment dispersion is excellent in terms of dispersibility, storage stability after dispersion, and jetability when used for an inkjet recording ink.

    Methods of using a toner as a printable adhesive are provided. In embodiments, a method of adhering substrates is provided which comprises disposing a cold pressure fix toner comprising a phase change material on a first substrate via xerography to form an unfused layer of the cold pressure fix toner on the first substrate; placing a second substrate on the unfused layer of the cold pressure fix toner; and subjecting the cold pressure fix toner to a pressure to form a bonded article comprising the first substrate, an adhesive layer formed from the cold pressure fix toner, and the second substrate. Methods of applying an adhesive to a substrate and bonded articles are also provided.
