Herein, we report a synthetic method with improved selectivity for 5-substituted flavonols via the Algar-Flynn-Oyamada reaction (AFO), by using of sodium carbonate/hydrogen peroxide A series of 5-substituted flavonols was obtained with moderate to high yields.
