Homogeneous storage-stable liquid stabilizer systems for polyvinyl chloride resins are provided which are substantially soivent-free and have a low viscosity and a minimum flash point of 96°C, containing, as the essential ingredients, a liquid barium carbonate-barium alkyl phenate; a cadmium salt of a branched chain aliphatic carboxylic acid having from about five to about thirteen carbon atoms, and/or of an aromatic carboxylic acid having from about seven to about eleven carbon atoms, and/or of an unsaturated aliphatic carboxylic acid having from about twelve to about twenty-two carbons; and a liquid organic triphosphite in an amount to form a homogeneous storage-stable liquid; the total weight percent of barium and cadmium in the stabilizer system being at least 13%, and the ratio of the weight percent of cadmium to the weight percent of barium being within the range from about 0.5:1 to about 1.5:1; optionally together with any one or more of a soluble zinc salt of a carboxylic acid, a soluble phenolic antioxidant, a liquid organic acid phosphite, and a soluble carboxylic acid.
Durch Reduktion eines 2-Acylphenols in Gegenwart eines metallischen Katalysators wird ein 2-Alkylphenol hergestellt. Die Reaktion erfolgt bei einer Temperatur von 80 bis 200°C und bei einem Druck von 10 bis 100 bar, und als Katalysator wird ein Nichtedelmetall, insbesondere Kupfer, verwendet. Die Anwendung des Katalysators in Kombination mit einem Träger ist besonders vorteilhaft. Die Hydrierung des Acylphenols wird zweckmäßigerweise in Gegenwart eines inerten Lösemittels durchgeführt. Das Verfahren ist kontinuierlich oder diskontinuierlich ausführbar. Die erhaltenen Alkylphenole eignen sich zur Synthese von Wirkstoffen mit biociden Eigenschaften.
