Bis(phenylthio)methane and [1,3]-dithiane were efficiently deprotonated by the NaNH2-Et(OCH2CH2)(2)-ONa complex base. A marked behaviour difference was observed between the sodium carbanion of [1,3]-dithiane and the corresponding lithio-derivative; A ''radicaioid'' mechanism is proposed to explain the results observed. (EN) The invention concerns novel monomers of formula A: (A) in which: Z represents H or CH3 and X represents O or S, and Y is a heterocyclic compound consisting of hydrogen, carbon and sulphur atoms, having 5 to 8 chains and at least two intracyclic sulphur atoms. The invention is useful for making waveguides, optical fibres and spectacle lenses.(FR) Les nouveaux monomères répondent à la formule (A) dans laquelle Z représente H ou CH3 et X représente O ou S, et Y est un hétérocycle constitué d'atomes d'hydrogène, carbone et soufre, ayant 5 à 8 chaînons et au moins deux atomes de soufre intracycliques. A CONVENIENT HIGH YIELD SYNTHESIS OF FUNCTIONAL METHACRYLATES <i>VIA</i> DETHIOACETALIZATION. SYNTHESIS OF METHACRYLATE S,S-ACETAL DERIVATIVES AS INTERMEDIATES
Abstract We describe a selective and efficient synthesis of a whole new class of functional methacrylates starting from S,S-acetals. Carbonyl compounds were regenerated from corresponding S,S-acetals using mercury (11) salts. According to this method, methacrylic sensitive group (possible polymerization), is not affected.
