Fibrinogen receptor antagonists having the formula ##STR1## for example ##STR2## which are useful for inhibiting the binding of fibrinogen to blood platelets and for inhibiting the aggregation of blood platelets.

Triphenylphosphine and tributylphosphine are excellent catalysts for Michael additions. Many beta-dicarbonyl compounds and electron-poor olefins, including sterically demanding partners, react successfully. The Michael addition catalyzed by phosphines deserves attention in its own right as a useful synthetic method. (c) 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Development of Brønsted Base–Photocatalyst Hybrid Systems for Highly Efficient C–C Bond Formation Reactions of Malonates with Styrenes
developed for reactions of malonates with styrene derivatives. The concept of this process lies in the photo-oxidation of catalytic amounts of the enolate to form reactive radicals that react with alkene double bonds under mild reaction conditions. This is an example of visible-light-activated C–C bond formation reactions of malonates with alkenes to realize high atom economy under very mild reaction conditions
