    Novel phosphoric acid derivtives represented by general formula (I): wherein X is a halogen and R is -(CH₂)nCH₃ (n = 0 to 3), or salts thereof are stable to non-enzymatic hydrolysis and are capable of specifically reacting with acid phos­phatase. Therefore, the activity of acid phosphatase in the sample can be determined extremely accurately by reacting said compound with a sample containing acid phosphatase and quantitatively determining the reaction product by colorimetry.

    A variety of [(2-substituted and 2,2-disubstituted vinyl)aryloxy]acetic acids was synthesized in which the substituents were primarily electron-withdrawing groups. These compounds were tested in dogs for their saluretic and diuretic properties. Many of the compounds exhibited significant activity; however, they were generally less potent than those reported in the three earlier papers in this series.
