An efficient, mild, and general method for the C-arylation beta-enamino esters and ketones with arynes has been developed. This methodology provides a facile and direct access to a variety of substituted aromatic beta-enamino compounds in moderate to excellent yield.

A variety of β-enaminoketones and esters have been synthesized in high to exellent yields by reacting β-dicarbonyl compounds with amines in the presence of a catalytic amount of indiumtribromide. The reaction proceeds smoothly at room temperature in a short reaction time under solvent-free conditions.

The reaction proceeds smoothly at room temperature under solvent-free conditions and gives the corresponding β-enamino compounds in high to excellent yields.
