Various types of diethylphosphono-substituted α-allenic alcohols have been readily prepared. Treatment of these compounds with a catalytic amount of silver nitrate under a nitrogen atmosphere provided the corresponding 4-(diethylphosphono)-2,5-dihydrofurans.
