Chemical Studies on Crude Drug Processing. VII. On the Constituents of Rehmanniae Radix. (1): Absolute Stereostructures of Rehmaglutins A, B, and D Isolated from Chinese Rehmanniae Radix,the Dried Root of Rehmannia glutinosa Libosch.
An iridoid alcohol, rehmaglutin A, and two chlorinated iridoids, rehmaglutins B and D, were isolated from the less polar fraction of Chinese Rehmanniae Radix [the dried root of Rehmannia glutinosa LIBOSCH. (Kan-jio in Japanese)], together with rehmaglutin C, rehmaionoside C, jio-cerebroside, and acteoside. The absolute configurations of rehmaglutins A, B, and D were established on the basis of chemical and spectral evidence which included the chemical derivations of rehmaglutins from the known iridoid glycoside catalpol and the application of the bezoate chirality method.

Five cyclopentanoid monoterpenes from Rehmannia glutinosa
Abstract Five new cyclopentanoid monoterpenes named jioglutins A, B, C, jioglutolide and jiofuran, along with other known compounds, have been isolated from the steamed roots of Rehmannia glutinosa var. hueichingensis and their structures elucidated on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic methods.

A full account of the structure elucidation of an iridoid lactone, rehmaglutin C, and a chlorinated tricyclic iridoid glucoside, glutinoside, is presented. Rehmaglutin C (10) and glutinoside (11) were isolated from Chinese Rehmanniae Radix, the dried root of Rehmannia glutinosa LIBOSCH. from China, called Kan-jio in Japanese. The absolute stereostructures 10 and 11 have been determined on the basis of chemical and physicochemical evidence which included application of the exciton chirality method for the allylic benzoyl derivative.

Absolute stereostructures of rehmaglutins A, B, and D three new iridoids isolated from Chinese Rehmanniae Radix.
Four new iridoids, rehmaglutins A, B, C, and D, were isolated from Chinese Rehmanniae Radix, the dried root of Rehmannia glutinosa Li__=b__=o__=s__=c__=h__=. [Kan-jio (in Japanese) from China]. The absolute stereostructures of rehmaglutins A (2__∼), B (3__∼), and D (4__∼) were elucidated on the basis of chemical and physicochemical evidence which included the application of the benzoate chirality method.
