Two quadridentate chelating agents, 4,4′-dimethyl-2,2′-bis(salicylideneaminomethyl)diphenyl ether and 4,4′-dimethyl-2,2′-bis(salicylideneaminoinethyl)diphenylarnine, which may form a metal complex with a ten-membered chelate ring, were synthesized by a sequence of steps.
