  Analgesics, local anesthetics, and antiarrhythmics which are 1-(amino-alkyl)-2-aryl-cyclohexane alcohols and esters having the structure ##SPC1## Wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen or alkanoyl; R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 individually are hydrogen, lower alkyl, or lower alkenyl, or R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 together with the nitrogen to which they are attached form a morpholine radical, a piperazine radical or a carbocyclic ring; R.sup.4 is hydrogen or lower alkyl; R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 individually are hydrogen, lower alkyl, hydroxyl or lower alkoxy; and the pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition and quaternary salts thereof, as well as stereoisomers and optical isomers thereof. This invention relates also to processes for making and using the foregoing compounds.
