    Synthesis of an A/B/C Triblock Copolymer for Battery Materials Applications
    摘要:
    An A/B/C triblock copolymer has been synthesized having potential applications as a self-contained nanoscale battery. A new organometallic compound was synthesized which serves as the anode. The polyelectrolyte block of the copolymer is an unsaturated polyether. The last block acts as the template to form metal oxide clusters and functions as the cathode. The triblock copolymer was synthesized by ring-opening metathesis polymerization using Grubbs's catalyst. GPC and NMR were used to monitor the polymerization. H-1 and C-13 NMR, FTIR, UV-vis, GPC with light scattering, and XPS were used to characterize the synthesized polymer.

    A convenient approach to the synthesis of oligo(ethylene glycols) under phase transfer conditions is described. Oligo(ethylene glycols) (x = 7-12) are obtained in excellent yields and high purity via modular, bi-directional elongation of readily available ethylene glycol bis-tosylates.

    synthesis of the geometrically less stable Z-enol ethers is challenging. An efficient Z-selective oxidative isomerization process of allyl ethers catalyzed by a cobalt(II) (salen) complex using N-fluoro-2,4,6-trimethylpyridinium trifluoromethanesulfonate (Me3NFPY•OTf) as an oxidant has been developed. Thermodynamically less stable Z-enol ethers were prepared in excellent yields with high geometric control.

    Bismaleimides (BMI) exhibit excellent heat resistance (high Tg and high resistance to thermal decomposition) compared to epoxy resins and phenolic resins, and therefore, in recent years, more attention is paid to bismaleimides as a resin material for the next-generation devices represented by SiC power semiconductors, in addition to the investigation on the use of bismaleimides for electronic material applications. As such, conventional BMI's are known as highly heat-resistant resins; however, there is a demand for a resin having higher heat resistance for advanced material applications and the like. Thus, an object of the invention is to provide a novel maleimide compound having superior heat resistance. Disclosed is a substituted or unsubstituted allyl group-containing maleimide compound having a structure with three or more benzene rings, having one or more groups each having a substituted or unsubstituted allyl group, and having one or more maleimide groups.

As such, the compounds of the invention are useful for treating amyloidosis and diseases associated with amyloidosis, for example Alzheimer's disease and maturity onset diabetes mellitus.
