Novel molecular compounds containing carboxylic acid derivatives represented by general formula (I) or (II) as the constituent compound and exhibiting excellent performances in various technical fields including selective separation of useful substances, chemical stabilization, nonvolatilization, prolongation of release and powderization, wherein X is (CH2)n or p-phenylene; n is 0, 1, 2 or 3; R1 to R8 and R13 to R20 are each hydrogen, C1-C6 alkyl, C2-C4 alkenyl, phenyl optionally substituted with C1-C6 alkyl, halogeno or C1-C6 alkoxy; and R9 to R12 and R21 to R24 are each hydrogen, C1-C6 alkyl, C2-C4 alkenyl, C7-C12 aralkyl or an alkali metal.

The present invention provides a multibranched polymer represented by the following formula (I), and a method for producing the multibranched polymer:
wherein A represents an organic group having 3 or more branched chains, Xa represents a linking group containing any atom of Groups 14 to 16 in the Periodic Table, Y represents a functional group having a structure capable of having an active halogen atom, Q represents an arm moiety having a repeating unit derived from a polymerizable unsaturated bond, m1 represents any integer of 1 to the number of branched chains of A, m2 represents the number of branched chains of A, n1 represents an integer of 0 or 1 or more, and Ra represents an organic group which is not associated with the polymerization reaction.

The present invention provides a novel narrow distribution dendrimer-like star polymer having a controlled molecular structure, and a method capable of easily producing the star polymer.
Disclosed is a polymer comprising a core portion and an arm portion, wherein the arm portion includes a first generation composed of a polymer chain and a second generation composed of a polymer chain formed at the outer shell of the first generation, the number of arms of the second generation is larger than the number of arms of the first generation, the first generation composed of the polymer chain is a polymer chain derived from a monomer having a polymerizable double bond, and the ratio of the weight average molecular weight (Mw) to the number average molecular weight (Mn), (Mw/Mn), of the star polymer is within a range from 1.001 to 2.50. A compound containing a functional group capable of reacting with an anion, which serves as a core portion, is reacted with a polymer chain containing two or more functional groups and an anion end which serves as an arm portion.
It is to provide a narrowly dispersible star polymer having a controlled molecular structure and a method for easily producing such star polymer. The method comprises step (A) wherein arm (I) is formed by binding the anionic end of a polymer having an anionic end to a core and step (B) wherein arm (II) is extended from the core by a living radical polymerization. Examples of the star polymer is specifically exemplified by star polymers characterized by having a structure represented by formula (I-1) or (I-2) (In formula (I-1) or (I-2), B, C1 and C2 each independently represents a group composed of a polymer; and m1 and m2 each independently represents an integer of 1 or 2, wherein when m1 or m2 is 2, both C1 or both C2 represent the same group or different groups).
