Provided herein are nanoalum particles comprising an aluminum salt and a sizing agent, wherein the size of the particle ranges from about 1 nm to 450 nm. Such nanoalum particles are stable and are amenable to a terminal sterilization step prior to vialing. Compositions comprising the nanoalum particles, and the making and using of the nanoalum particles are also provided.

This paper describes an efficient enzymatic procedure for the synthesis of phospholipid--inhibitor conjugates. The chemoselectivity, regioselectivity, and stereoselectivity of phospholipase-D-catalyzed phosphatidylations were investigated, and phospholipids containing inhibitors such as azasugars, nucleosides, and peptides were synthesized. These phospholipid conjugates in aqueous solution generally form liposome bilayers with multivalent inhibitors (the head groups) displayed on the surface and may find use in drug delivery and targeting. They also exhibit interesting structural features in different solvent systems as indicated in the NMR spectra.

Provided herein are liposomal formulations containing saponin and optionally, a lipopolysaccharide. Also provided IC herein are pharmaceutical compositions and vaccine compositions comprising the liposomal formulations and an antigen. The pharmaceutical compositions and vaccine compositions are capable of eliciting or enhancing of an immune response, for example, for vaccine or therapeutic uses. Compositions and methods related to making the liposomal formulations and using the liposomal formulations for eliciting or enhancing an immune response are also provided.
