The preparation of α,β-unsaturated ketones and α,β-epoxyketones from readily accessible 1-haloenynes are described. The procedures involve the regio- and stereoselective hydroboration of 1-halodienylboranes, and oxidative work-up under appropriate conditions of the dienylboranes formed.
