Diamond-type nanogrids (DGs), can helically expand to form spiro-linked polymers. Herein, we designed and synthesized two types of DGs, DGs-1 (A1B1 mode) in 44–50% yields, and DGs-2 (A2 + B2 mode) in 64% yield.
