6-dihydropyrimidine-2-amine derivatives and 1,6-dihydropyrimidine-2-thiol derivatives were synthesized by the reaction of substituted 1,3-diphenylprop-2-en-1-one (chalcones) with guanidine hydrochloride and thiourea, respectively.
