Who's responsible? P. terrae NRRL B‐30644 has been found to produce the lipopeptide antibiotic tridecaptin A1, which is active against Campylobacter jejuni, and the lantibiotic paenicidin B. The structure of tridecaptin A1 was solved, and the biosynthetic machinery for this peptide was identified. The impact of the lipid‐chain stereochemistry on antimicrobial activity was also examined.
