Direct radical oxyphosphorylation of styrenes with diarylphosphine oxides and dialkylphosphites mediated by Mn(OAc)3 is described. The solvent played a key role in this selective difunctionalization reaction.

A silver-catalyzedoxidativedecarboxylativecoupling reaction of arylpropiolicacids with H-phosphine oxides by using air as the terminal oxidant was developed. The reaction proceeds smoothly under mild conditions to give β-oxophosphineoxides in moderate to good yields. Preliminary mechanistic studies were conducted.
