direct C–H β‐carbonyl alkylation of heteroarenes has been achieved through K2S2O8‐mediated ring‐opening of cyclopropanols. A wide scope of substrates, such as various substituted quinolines and isoquinolines, pyridines, pyridazine, benzo[d]thiazole, and phenanthroline, underwent the β‐carbonyl alkylation efficiently and afforded the β‐heteroarylated ketones in moderate to excellent yields.
A manganese-catalyzed ring-opening coupling reaction of cyclopropanols with enones for the facile and efficient preparation of 1,6-diketones is described. A wide array of synthetically important 1,6-diketones bearing manifold functional groups are obtained with up to 93% yield. These reactions feature broad substrate scopes, environmentally benign conditions, inexpensive catalyst, and operational simplicity

for the synthesis of pyridines through the annulation of cyclopropanols and oxime acetates has been developed. This protocol features good functional group tolerance and high chemoselectivity and also promises to be efficient for the late-stage functionalization of skeletons of drugs and natural products. Mechanism studies indicate that the reaction involves the in situ generated α,β-unsaturated ketones

conveniently synthesized from readily available cyclopropanols and alkenyl aldehydes via a silver catalyzed radical ring-opening/coupling/cyclization cascade. The reaction proceeded under mild and neutral conditions with broad substrate scope and afforded the desired products in moderate to good yields. A probable mechanism for the cascade reaction was also proposed.

Alkynylation of cyclopropanols with 1-bromo-1-alkynes has been devised for easy access to synthetically useful alk-4-yn-1-ones. This method broadens the utility of attractively functionalized cyclopropanols as a new class of homoenolate equivalent in C–C bond formation.
