Domain walls and phase transition initiated ultrasonic attenuation of TiNi single crystal
摘要:
Shape memory alloys (SMAs) undergo a ferroelastic transition and ferroelastic domains will appear in daughter phases. Domain walls (DWs) play an important role in shape memory effect and high damping capacities. Most of previous internal friction work on phase transformations and DWs was done in low frequency range (less than or equal to100 Hz) for polycrystalline samples. To obtain better understanding of the nature of SMAs, megahertz range ultrasonic attenuation (a) was measured for TiNi single crystal in this paper and attenuation peaks initiated by phase transition and DWs were observed.
