AbstractAn isolate of Myrothecium roridum (ATCC 60379) produced a series of novel enol ether containing macrocyclic trichothecenes, myrotoxins A‐D, when grown on rice substrate. The stability of the myrotoxins depends strongly on the stereochemistry of the hydroxy group at C12'. In liquid culture, this fungus produced, in addition to myrotoxins A and B, three new macrocyclic trichothecenes, mytoxins A‐C which are related in structure to satratoxins. The myrotoxins and mytoxins are acutely cytotoxic and in vivo toxic agents.
