    The present invention relates to a therapeutic agent for diabetes with sulfonylurea secondary failure, which contains a GPR40 agonist. According to the present invention, a therapeutic agent for diabetes with sulfonylurea secondary failure that affords a superior insulin secretion effect and a superior hypoglycemic effect even in diabetic patients for whom a sulfonylurea compound or a fast-acting insulin secretagogue fails to provide an insulin secretion effect and therefore, fails to provide a sufficient hypoglycemic effect can be provided.

    A disease detection system which includes an electrophoresis apparatus and a biomarker detector. The apparatus includes: (a) a transport passage; (b) a plurality of separation passages, each of the separation passages having an overlapping portion that overlaps the transport passage; and (c) a different biomarker concentrator in each of the overlapping portions and which concentrates at least one different biomarker from a specimen from an animal introduced into the transport passage. A plurality of the different biomarkers is associated with at least one predetermined disease, such as diabetes, heart disease or cancer. The detector detects the presence of the different biomarkers which were concentrated by the biomarker concentrators and delivered to the biomarker detector via the separation passages. First and second sets of the biomarker concentrators can be associated with respective first and second predetermined diseases and the user can determine which set will be used in each procedure.

    The present invention relates to a method for immobilizing nucleic acids on a support, comprising the provision of a nucleic acid with a stretch of nucleotides of only one basetype and the immobilization of said nucleic acid on a support by crosslinking by light, wherein said crosslinking by light is performed at a wavelength of about 300-500 nm, preferably at a wavelength of 365 nm. The present invention further relates to a method for the analysis of nucleic acids immobilized according to the invention, which comprises the hybridization of the immobilized nucleic acid with complementary and mismatch segments. Furthermore, the present invention relates to immobilized nucleic acids obtainable by the method of the invention, the use of accordingly immobilized nucleic acids for the production of nucleic acid arrays and a diagnostic kit, comprising an array of nucleic acids which are immobilized according to the present invention.
