  The 19,2-gamma-lactone of gibberellins, which possess a 3-beta-hydroxy-1(10)diene partial structure of ring A (2a, 2c) reacts with lithium alkane thiolate to the 2-beta-alkylthio derivatives (3a, 4a and 5a). The structures were confirmed by m.s. and n.m.r. spectroscopy.
