4-Hydroxyclooctanone and 4-hydroxycyclooct-2-enone are shown to be in equilibrium with their respective bicyclic tautomers; the corresponding 4-aminocyclooctanones and -oct-2-enones have been synthesised and these amino-ketones show similar behaviour. The position of equilibrium varies with substitution (and with temperature in some cases).
