Elaeodendrol and elaeodendradiol, new nor-triterpenes from Elaeodendron glaucum

Abstract The isolation of six known and two new D:A-friedooleananes is reported from the bark of Elaeodendronglaucum . The structures of the newnor-triterpenes, elaeodendrol and elaeodendradiol, were established respectively as 17β- hydroxy-28-norfriedelan-3-one and l7β,25-dihydroxy-28-norfriedelan-3-one by a study of the methyl chemical shifts in their 1 H NMR spectra.
Two new trioxygenated
D:A-friedooleananes from the stem bark of Elaeodendron
glaucum have been shown to be the angular methyl dioxygenated
25,28-dihydroxy-D:A-friedooleanan-3-one (2) and 25-hydroxy-3-oxo-D:A-friedooleanan-28-al
(3).
