    Disclosed is a hollow fiber that includes a hollow positioned at the center of the hollow fiber, macropores positioned at adjacent to the hollow, and mesopores and picopores positioned at adjacent to macropores, and the picopores are three dimensionally connected to each other to form a three dimensional network structure. The hollow fiber includes a polymer derived from polyimide, and the polyimide includes a repeating unit obtained from aromatic diamine including at least one ortho-positioned functional group with respect to an amine group and dianhydride.

    This invention provides a cell culture substrate comprising on its surface a fluorine-containing polymer that enables three-dimensional tissue culture. The cell culture substrate of the invention has a surface at least a part of which is composed of a resin composition comprising a fluorine-containing polymer having one or more fluorine atoms in a repeating unit and exhibits the oxygen gas permeability of 219 cm3 (STP)/(m2·24h·atm) or higher. Three-dimensional tissue can be formed via cell culture with the use of the cell culture substrate of the invention.

    The one-pot synthesis of 1,1,1-trifluoro- and 1,1-difluoro-2,2-diarylethanes from arenes and fluorinated hemiacetals in the BF3-H2O system is described. The reaction is simple, clean, and convenient, eliminating the use of organic solvents and other expensive acid systems. BF3-H2O is economic, is easy to prepare, and offers ample acidity required for this reaction.

    The present invention provides a retardation film on which birefringent layers having different alignment directions can be formed directly. A surface of a polymer film showing birefringence is irradiated with polarized light so as to change an alignment direction of only the surface of the film to be different from an alignment direction of an inside of the film, thereby manufacturing a retardation film having the surface that is processed into an alignment surface. Since this film is a retardation film that also functions as an alignment film, if a liquid crystal layer is formed directly on the alignment surface and is aligned, the birefringent layer having the alignment direction that is different from the alignment direction of the retardation film can be formed on the retardation film.
