3-chloronorbornan-2-one and 3-bromocamphor with Me3Sn−, Ph2P− or PhS− ions were studied by an SRN1 mechanism in liquid ammonia or DMSO. Nitrosoniumtetrafluoroborate in conjunction with pyridiniumpoly(hydrogenfluoride) has been found to be excellent desulfurativefluorination reagent. In NO+BF4−/PPHF system, mono-fluorides and gem-difluordes have been obtained in high yields from the corresponding phenylsulfides and dithiolane derivatives, respectively.
