   CH2OH) 16-oxototarol (I,R  CH:O), sugiol, podocarpic acid, and two unidentified compounds have been isolated from the heartwood of Podocarpus hallii. The structure (II, R  H) of podototarin, found in P. totara but not in P. hallii, has been determined and the compound synthesized from (+)-totarol.
