  摘要：

  An efficient synthesis of chloroisosulochrin was accomplished using a novel ortho-selective chlorination of a phenol with sulfuryl chloride and 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine as the key step. Further elaboration by a biomimetic route converted chloroisosulochrin to dihydromaldoxin, maldoxone (lactone formed by dehydration of dihydromaldoxin), and maldoxin and isosulochrin to dechlorodihydromaldoxin and dechloromaldoxin.

  New plant growth regulators, named chloroisosulochrin, chloroisosulochrin dehydrate and pestheic acid, have been isolated from the culture filtrate of Pestalotiopsis theae grown on a Raulin-Thom medium. Their structures have been established by spectroscopic and chemical methods. The biological activities of these compounds have been examined using bioassay methods with lettuce and rice seedlings

  Gene identification: The pestheic acid biosynthetic gene (pta) cluster was identified in Pestalotiopsis fici. A dihydrogeodin oxidase gene, ptaE, was essential for diphenyl ether formation, and ptaM encoded a flavin‐dependent halogenase catalyzing chlorination in the biosynthesis.
