Friedel-Crafts-Type Alkylation with Bromodifluoro(phenylsulfanyl)methane through α-Fluorocarbocations: Syntheses of Thioesters, Benzophenones and Xanthones
Bromodifluoro(phenylsulfanyl)methane undergoes a Friedel–Crafts-typealkylation, throughα-fluorocarbocations, with activated aromatic compounds yielding thioesters and/or benzophenones. The methodology has been applied to the synthesis of naturally occurring xanthone derivatives.

Abstract Friedel–Crafts reaction of aromatic compounds (benzenes, thiophene, furan, pyrrole, naphthalene, and benzothiophene) with bis(trichloromethyl) carbonate [BTC] was efficiently catalyzed by ytterbium triflate [Yb(OTf)3] to give diaryl ketones with moderate to good yields.

report an efficient and practical approach for synthesizing diaryl(het) ketones from R–CO–CHR–Ar through a simultaneous oxidativecleavage of C–C and C–H bonds using KOtBu. This method enables synthesizing a variety of unsymmetrical and symmetrical (hetero)aryl ketones in excellent yields, which are otherwise difficult to make. Besides, we synthesized natural products using this method.

A fat spread comprising a flavour agent containing :
- from 55% to 90% of 2-furfuryl alcohol;
- from 5% to 20% of 2-acetylpyrrole;
- from 3% to 15% of 2-acetylpyridine;
- from 1% to 10% of alpha-furfuryl mercaptan; and
- from 0.1% to 10% of 2-ethyl-3-methylpyrazine.
A flavour agent containing :
- from 45% to 65% of 2-furfuryl alcohol;
- from 5% to 20% of 2-acetylpyrrole;
- from 3 % to 15 % of 2-acetylpyridine;
- from 1 % to 10% of alpha-furfuryl mercaptan;
- from 0.1% to 8% of2-ethyl-3-methylpyrazine;
- from 0.1% to 8% of S-sulfuryl acetothioate; and
- from 5% to 20% of 5-methylquinoxaline.
