Basic aluminasupported, solvent-freesynthesis of novel oxazocines, medium size heterocycles, has been achieved in excellent yields by tandem C-alkylation followed by intramolecular O-alkylation of hydroxyquinoline/isoquinoline(s) with quinolinium salts under microwave irradiation. The method provides a facile and efficient route for the construction of polynuclear bridge-head oxazocines.
