6-Dimethylaminotricyclo[5.3.0.02,5]deca-3,6,8,10-tetraene (1c) (6-dimethylamino Dewar azulene) was synthesized by a reaction sequence of enol fixation of tricyclo[5.3.0.02,5]deca-3,7(11),9-trien-6-one with diethyl phosphonylchloridate and a subsequent substitution with dimethylamine. Unlike 6-dimethylaminopentafulvene, 1c is air- and acid-sensitive.
