Benzothiazolyl chromophore was introduced into the inner position of [2.2]metacyclophanes(= MCPs) which have various kinds of substituents at the outer position. Structural properties for such MCP derivatives were clarified by X-ray analysis. It was also found out that there exist specific relationships between the electronic nature of the outer substituent and λmax of the inner chromophore.
