The present invention relates to novel derivatives of flavopereirine and methods for manufacture thereof. The novel derivatives of flavopereirine are useful for inhibition or prevention of the growth or multiplication of cancer cells, and to therapeutic compositions containing such compounds. The invention more specifically relates to the use of derivatives of flavopereirine for the inhibition and / or prevention of cancer of the ovary, breast, prostate, pancreas, oral cavity, lung, colon, and larynx.

Une composition pharmaceutique contenant : (1) Flavopereirine et/ou dihydroflavopereirine ; (2) un ou plusieurs composés sélectionnés du groupe consistant en naringine, naringénine et/ou leurs esters ou sels acceptables sur le plan pharmaceutique ; (3) ARN amorceurs ou R.L.B. (ARN fragments) ; (4) Bioparyl. La Flavopereirine est un alcaloïde de la classe de Beta-carboline. Les R.L.B. sont des fragments particuliers d'ARN qui agissent comme amorceurs pour la replication de l'ADN des leucocytes. Le Bioparyl est obtenu à partir de feuilles jaunes de l'arbre de Gingko Biloba par un processus particulier d'extraction, hydrolyse et séparation. Ces produits en combinaison sont utiles pour traiter les patients souffrant des maladies virales, particulièrement du Sida.

De-ethylflavopereirine, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, a solvate or a hydrate thereof, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of a solvate or a hydrate thereof may be used as cancer therapy (i.e., prevention and/or treatment) in a subject in need thereof, including a pathological condition such as inflammation, especially chronic, or cancer (e.g., a carcinoma, a sarcoma, a melanoma, a leukemia, a lymphoma), especially a solid tumor and/or a metastasis thereof. In particular, systemic administration of such improved anti-cancer agents in effective amounts may selectively destroy cancer cells (including cancer stem cells) in a solid tumor and/or at a site of metastasis. They are well-tolerated by the subject, even at large systemic doses and their resulting high concentrations in the circulation, and provide safe and effective anti-cancer agents.
