  A novel cyclopentanone derivative having a cyclopentanone or cyclopentanol ring having substituents at the 2- and 5-positions is provided. The cyclopentanone derivative preferably has 13 to 17 carbon atoms. A perfume composition comprising the cyclopentanone derivative emits a flora fragrance emphasizing a natural and fresh feeling.
