The hydrogenolysis of Photinia glabrescens proanthocyanidin polymer was investigated. Among the low MW products identified were phloroglucinol, catechin, epicatechin, 1 - (3, 4 - dihydroxyphenyl) - 3 - (2, 4, 6 -trihydroxyphenyl) propan - 2 - ol and the procyanidin dimers B1 and B2.
