A convenient method for the synthesis of cyclic trithiocarbonates on carbohydrate scaffolds

An efficient regio- and stereoselective method for the synthesis of cyclictrithiocarbonates on carbohydrate skeleton is described. A freshly prepared solution of sodium trithiocarbonate reacts with cis-oriented epoxytriflate pentoses 7–11 to yield the corresponding cyclictrithiocarbonates 12–16. Structures of all new compounds are established through MS, 1H and 13C NMR techniques.

Several families of iminosugar‐based galactosidemimics were designed, synthesized, and evaluated as galactocerebrosidase (GALC) inhibitors. They were also tested as inhibitors of lysosomal β‐ and α‐galactosidases in order to find new potent and selective pharmacological chaperones for treatment of the lysosomal storage disorder, Krabbe disease.
